Due to unexpected higher call volumes, please stay on the line for the next available captioning operator. Do not hang up and call back.  This will result in longer wait times.

Se encuentra un aumento de llamadas en este momento. Por favor espera en línea para un operador disponible. No se cuelgue para devolver la llamada porque resultará en tiempos de espera más largos.

FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS ANYONE BUT REGISTERED USERS WITH HEARING LOSS FROM USING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) CAPTIONED TELEPHONES WITH THE CAPTIONS TURNED ON. IP Captioned Telephone Service may use a live operator. The operator generates captions of what the other party to the call says. These captions are then sent to your phone. There is a cost for each minute of captions generated, paid from a federally administered fund. No cost is passed on to the CapTel user for using the service.

CapTel North Carolina (CapTel NC) is funded by a surcharge on landline and wireless telephone bills in North Carolina and administered by the North Carolina Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing.

CapTel NC is not compatible with PBX systems, VOIP phones or digital landlines; an analog or DSL with filter landline must be used. While local calls are made at no charge, long distance calls are now available at no charge effective July 1, 2017.
